Practice Behaviors Addressed:
7a. apply theories and conceptual frameworks relevant to understanding people and environments across systems levels
7b. critique and apply human behavior and social environment theories and conceptual frameworks to assessment, intervention, and evaluation at multiple systems levels
Artifact Description:
My artifact is my final reflection paper of Social Welfare 315, after spending six months at Roxhill Elementary School as an after school team lead for All Math Stars. In my final paper I reflect on my role as an outsider coming into a new community, working with a different age group for the first time and how this all applies to future practice.
Artifact Relevance:
This artifact reflects my application of theories and frameworks to working with a younger age group. I specifically share in the paper my reflections of utilizing systems theory and strengths perspective. I applied this knowledge to the program intervention I was a part of and the way I provided services for these students. That included considering their existing assets, demographics and intersecting systems and resources they had.

"Systems theory has been important in working with students as it provides me a greater understanding of their current state, and how that affects other factors such as school performance or social interactions" (Bravo, 2014).
