"Teaching involves stepping outside the classroom and supporting the student as a person".
This course is the first class I took after deciding to leave the Business route to head into more of an education focus. My artifact from the course is an essay on my teaching philosophy. The artifact represents my first thoughts on education and reflects the foundation of my beliefs which have guided the direction I have taken. This includes the belief that teachers and students are co-teach and learn together. I have been able to pursue this type of teaching through different educational settings, such as teaching a seminar for the Dream Project and facilitating intergroup dialogue groups. The artifact also supports my decision to major in Social Welfare as my philosophy also emphasized active citizenship, democracy and holistically supporting students as a whole.
